Oscar Obsessed

Hollywood is hungover and abuzz with award winners and best and worst dressed lists, so I'm going to add to the conversation even though I decided pass on the hangover (though I did indulge in a couple delicious glasses of vino last night).

In all honesty, I've never really been into award shows but I was beyond excited for this year's Oscars. My husband and I watched "Dallas Buyers Club" and "12 Years a Slave" this past weekend in preparation for the red carpet event. I had my fingers crossed that Matthew McConaughey would take home this year's best actor award. If you haven't seen his and Jared Leto's performance in "Dallas Buyers Club" take my word for it, it's incredible!

But I really tuned in to see the fashion. I'm pretty sure I developed carpal tunnel last night because I flipped back and forth between E!'s and ABC's coverage to catch every star and starlet as they walked the red carpet.

For the women, there were lots of black and pastel gowns but it seemed like few people stepped out in color, which is why I was a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence's look. Hairstyles seemed to fall into one of two camps: they were either loose and flowing, typically pulled to one side, or pulled back tightly in an old Hollywood-glam look.

Here's my personal assessment for best dressed:
Best hair and makeup:
Sandra / Julia / Olivia
Most noteworthy men:

Joseph / Leo
Here are some things you may have noticed from my list:

  • Julia Roberts did not make my best dressed list. Why? Because I didn't like her dress. at. all. I thought it looked cheap and gave her volume where it wasn't needed.
  • Lupita Nyong'o did make the list either. She looked great but after the Golden Globes I expect her to look great and last night she just didn't wow me (apparently I'm the only one in the country that feels this way).
  • Jared Leto - sir you have beautiful blue eyes but I wasn't feeling the red bow tie, that is all.
And there's my very (un)official Oscar Fashion Review. Who made your best/worst dressed list?

Be Blessed,
Brittany
