Accountability Needed

So here's the deal. I've been unhappy for a while now. My life is full of blessings, I have an incredible family, an abundance of friends and overall I really love my job. My unhappiness stems not from these things but from my own doing.

I am most unhappy when I  go shopping for new summer shorts or a bathing suit so that I'll feel comfortable helping my son learn to swim. I'm unhappy shopping my own closet for something to wear to work. I'm unhappy when I'm smacked in the face with the reality that I've gained and maintained a nasty 10-15 unnecessary pounds since having my son. Mind you that was almost 18 months ago.

I, like many women, am incredibly unhappy with how my body looks. I've made excuse after excuse after excuse why I'm carrying around extra weight and why it's too hard to lose. I have more jiggle than ever before and I've become completely complacent with my workouts and diet.

When I look in the mirror I have an inner-dialogue about my unhappiness. I've told my husband I'm unhappy. I've told my mom and my sister. Now I'm telling you. The world now knows I'm disappointed in how I look. But I'm finally sick of being unhappy. I need to make a change I need to do it now.

I know that there's no magic pill. There's no secret wrap. There's only one way to shed the 10 to 15 pounds that I despise: diet and exercise. But I also know myself and I know that I will not stick to a diet or continue to exercise without some sort of accountability. That's where I'm hoping you can help.

I'm looking for a few good women. Women who might have some of the same insecurities. Women who know there aren't shortcuts and still want to make an effort to change. Women who want to be healthier. Women who just need that little bit of encouragement to keep them on the right track.

I'm looking for an accountability partner. I'm looking for a work out pen pal, someone that will email me and keep me on track with my diet and exercise. Who can provide an encouraging word and also a stern talking to when I get off the track. And my promise to you: I'll help you along in your weight-loss journey. I'll send you emails and texts of encouraging words. I'll look for exercises that will diversify your workouts and I'll also be on the lookout for great healthy recipes that would fit into your lifestyle and new diet.

Two women are stronger than one. We can build a community of encouragement. If you're interested, simply comment below with your name and email and I'll create Accountability Pairs. Since this is a timely matter matches will be made as they stream in. This is open to all women, not just bloggers. There's no button to add to your blog or follow-up post required. You just need to be motivated and able to encourage others.

Be Blessed,
Brittany

  3. Great post. I love your honesty. I think finding an accountability partner is a great idea. I think it would help me stay on track also. While I think you're beautiful, no matter your size, I'm happy that you are doing something that will make you happier and more comfortable in your own skin.

  4. I love this idea. And I definitely want to participate. Moving back to the suburbs without walking distance access to a gym is going to make it so much harder to keep myself on track.

  5. It's like you just took these words out of my mouth! I can't tell you how many times I've felt depressed and didn't want to go to work because my clothes didn't fit me like they should...That being said I would definitely be interested in having an accountability partner as well!

  9. I live in the burbs too and it is tough when you have longer commutes to and from work and the gyms aren't nearby. Hopefully this will be a way to keep us all on track. Check your email soon for your accountability partner!

  13. I want to be part of this. I lost myself, and my workout routine, when I had to move to CLE for work. You don't understand how important location is to your happiness until you're gone. But I'm now back in the mitten and back into my workout routine. I still have my days though so I would love to have someone to push me.

  17. It looks like you already got a lot of good response to this post, but I wanted to throw my two cents in as well.

I'd like to suggest checking out Amanda Adam's Bikini Body Program. Her whole philosophy is about being real and balanced. I was lucky enough to get in with her Beta Launch back in January (though I kinda fell off the wagon in February after being ill), and all the other Beta Girls have had fabulous results without having to kill themselves. It's a very realistic and doable program! Plus, Amanda is a super sweet lady!
